PROFILE: Teen comedian Simon Cadel
Simon Cadel is a 13 year old comedian who likes to give back.
As a Bar Mitzvah project, this Edgemont NY youth recently organized and performed in a sold out teen comedian concert “Laugh Til It Helps” Benefit for a local Westchester organization (Family Services of Westchester)
Simon has been performing standup comedy for approximately one year. He’s been attending camps and after school programs, and has been participating in the Gotham Comedy Club’s Kids’n’ Comedy program, which brings together kids and comedians to learn and perform once a month at the Gotham Comedy Club. Many of his fellow classmates performed in the benefit
Simon’s mom is blogger and video entrepreneur Betsy Cadel, who’s company Thinking Cap Productions is a full service video production company that helps companies and people create videos. Betsy is also the co-author of the book Kid Savvy Westchester.
Betsy has been very encouraging of Simon, posting many of his videos on Youtube and helping him market both his benefit and his talent.
“I don’t know how we would have been if he were into soccer,” Betsy said in a recent article about the benefit “But we can definitely wrap our heads around comedy. He’s terrific at it. It’s a scary idea to think that your son would actually go into standup comedy because it’s such an incredibly difficult thing.”
Simon is a student at the Master’s school in Hastings and recently applied for the show “America’s Got Talent”, (he’s waiting to hear back)
You can view a number of Simon’s videos on Betsy Cadel’s Youtube channel
