How did you become a blogger?
An old friend of mine started blogging about being in Mexico City for a job and it absolutely inspired me to start my own. Then I got in with a group of Mom Bloggers here in LA and linked to other Moms all across the country. I became part of a community and it helped my upgrade my skills since we were always sharing info & tips. I co-Founded MomsLA in 2010 to grow that feeling of community with some of the Top Mom Bloggers in LA. I also have a blog where I review media with my kids – like video games, TV and movies.
What’s your favorite technology to help you create your blog posts?
I love tweetdeck for tweeting, and I write directly into wordpress when I blog. I have a great Sony handycam video camera for my youtube videos – great audio! And I edit my videos with iMovie – super easy.
If you could travel back in time and send yourself a message, what would it be?
Relax! This too shall pass! You’ll find a tribe after High School! You are wonderful!
What do you think is the greatest opportunity and/or danger for digital teens today?
To connect with others who share their goals, to grow ideas and create projects with people all over the world.
The biggest danger is anonymity. I think people can hide behind an internet persona and ugly things can come from that. People need to learn what effect their words & actions have.
What’s next for you after the Digital Family Summit?
We’re growing our network at MomsLA and building up our Youtube channel. Plus it’s Summer – so it’s should be a ton of fun!
Anything else you’d like to tell us?
I am super excited to be coming – and to be bringing my family with me! And I really want to try a Philly Cheesesteak!
