DIGITAL FAMILY SUMMIT SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED 

Initial round of speakers includes prominent teens, Internet sensations, and college professors.

The Digital Family Summit, a first-of-its-kind blogging conference for teens, tweens, and their families, has made its initial round of speaker announcements. The inaugural conference, which takes place June 29-July 1 in Philadelphia, will bring together over 200 creative teens and tweens from around the country along with their families. At the three-day conference, teens will develop skills through hands-on workshops and interactive sessions, learn how they can take their creative endeavors to a more professional level, explore the impact that kids are having on the broader digital culture, and most importantly, meet other like-minded teens.

Content is an important part of any conference, and providing world-class content for tweens/teens and adults is one of the missions of Digital Family Summit. “We have teens, college professors, business people, bloggers, editors, entrepreneurs, and programmers coming together for this event. These remarkable online professionals are committed to sharing their expertise and experience with the next generation of digital creators in a way that is both entertaining and useful in the real world,” says conference co-founder Jennie Baird.

Notable Digital Family Summit speakers include:

Dave Carroll, musician, storyteller, and consumer activist, whose song about his disastrous experience with United Airlines (“United Breaks Guitars”) went viral and has been seen by over 150 million people.

Sree Sreenivasan is a professor and Dean of Student Affairs at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. He is a blogger for CNET, and appears regularly on CBS and elsewhere talking tech

Daniel Brusilovsky is the founder and CEO of Teens in Tech Labs, a company dedicated to helping young entrepreneurs by providing them the resources they need to get off the ground. Daniel was on the founding team of Qik (acquired by Skype), and has worked at TechCrunch (acquired by Aol), Apture (acquired by Google), atebits (acquired by Twitter), and Etude (acquired by Steinway & Sons).

Theresa Payton, cyber-security expert and the former CIO of the White House (and the first woman to hold that position), now appears regularly on the newsmagazine show “America Now.” She is the CEO and President of security firm Fortalice, and is the author of a new book, “Protecting Your Internet Identity.”

Tori Molnar is the fifteen-year-old President and CEO of Utoria, and founder of She Can Make Change, an organization that empowers women to put change not only in their pockets but in the world around them.

Jo-Lynne Shane, blogger, social media consultant, freelance designer and writer, is the co-founder of the Philly Social Media Moms, one of the strongest and largest regional networks of mom bloggers in the country.

Nick Normile, whose blog Foodie At Fifteen was selected twice as one of the best teen blogs by the Bloggies. Nick, now 19, is a student at the Wharton School of Business, and is an intern with the VC firm Artists and Instigators
